VITAL – A Grow Up Festival

Building bridges between somatics, indigenous wisdom, embodied movement practices, and creativity

What is VITAL?

VITAL is a gathering for people who want to grow not only individually, but as part of a living human community.

Rather than being a festival to consume experiences, VITAL is designed as a shared journey. Through embodied practices, dance, movement, rhythm, reflection, creativity, and ceremony, we explore what it means to grow into more mature, grounded, and alive ways of being human.

Growing Up through Increased Aliveness and Awareness

Vital means aliveness or life force. For us, growing up is not about becoming a "grown-up," but about learning to use our life force with greater awareness.

We are interested in how depth and aliveness can exist together, while staying connected to the body and within our capacity. Instead of chasing intensity, we explore how to expand with awareness and learn to hold more of life without losing ourselves.

We can only go as fast as our slowest part.

The Tree of Life

The symbol of the festival is the Tree of Life.
Like a tree, human growth requires roots, a stable trunk, and branches that can expand into the world. Each person stands in their own tree, rooted in their body and life, while connected to others through the invisible networks that sustain a living forest.

Building Bridges

VITAL brings together different ways of understanding human growth.
Through somatic understanding of the nervous system, attachment, parts work, indigenous wisdom traditions, spirituality, dance, martial arts, and embodied movement practices, we build bridges between ways of knowing that help us reconnect to ourselves, to each other, and to the living world.

At the same time, this festival is not just about learning from other cultures.
It is also about bringing wisdom home. We gather on Nordic soil, and part of the intention is to reconnect with the ancestral traditions that belong to this place, while each participant is invited to return to their own roots, their land and their lineages.

We believe that cultural and spiritual exchange can deepen our connection to the traditions and lineages from which we ourselves originate.

At the heart of the festival lies a simple question:

How do we grow and unfold as human beings – together?

A Shared Journey

VITAL is something between a retreat and a festival. Each day we gather to deepen our shared intention, before exploring the richness and diversity of festival life.

Along the way, we move, reflect, create, and celebrate, eventually gathering for a co-created evening called Celebration of the Sacred Expression, before returning home with a deeper sense of alignment and vitality.

Festival Pillars

Each day will have a theme that we all go through together, starting with grounding and ending with celebration.
The teachers and workshop leaders will offer their most beautiful gifts, aligning with the journey we are taking you on.

Somatics & Embodiment
Understanding the nervous system and returning home to the wisdom of the body.

Ancestral and Indigenous Wisdom
Remembering and honoring what came before us, reconnecting with land, ancestors, and traditions, and bringing these teachings into ceremony.

Creativity & Co-Creation
Play, art, voice, sensual expression and collective creation as ways to express life and bring our unique gifts into the world.

Dance, Movement & Fluidity
Through dance, rhythm and movement we explore our fluid nature as human beings, beyond rigid identities, genders, and roles.

Spiritual Unfolding
Deepening the connection to your own inner wisdom and the larger web of life.

Manifesto
We have written a manifesto that represents what we stand for here at the festival. It forms the foundation of the philosophy behind our work and is a good way to learn more about what the festival is about.

Testimonials

The word vitality says it all. And it's your entire system that's involved in this vitalisation process. Your body is vitalised through dance and yoga. Your heart is vitalised through community and connection. And your consciousness is vitalised through all the awareness that naturally results from it all. My warmest, warmest recommendation.
