The Kitchen
Trine and Mille lead the kitchen at Tranekaer Center. With many years of experience and a shared passion for creating food from scratch, they bring a grounded and sensory approach to every meal. If you choose us to cater, your food will be prepared with presence and intuition, without fixed recipes, and using high-quality ingredients. These are often sourced from local producers and, when in season, from our own kitchen garden.
Meals are crafted with a focus on variety – from colourful salads to warming stews – flavour, and a sensory experience where colours, aromas, and textures are allowed to harmonise.
Ingredients and Our Approach
We focus on seasonal vegetables from the local area and are highly committed to reducing food waste. Our dishes are primarily vegetarian and adapted to suit each individual event.
We often use organic ingredients when possible and appropriate, considering season, quality, and availability, as a natural extension of our culinary approach.
For many years, our family has been closely connected with organic farming. This experience continues to inform our approach to ingredients and cooking today.
Variety and Customisation
The kitchen also prepares meat dishes upon request, including local game.
We accommodate allergens and special dietary requirements when arranged in advance.
The Experience
The kitchen also offers picnic baskets, ready to be enjoyed in the landscape during selected events, perfect for trips to the forest, beach, or other local spots.
For us, the meal is an integral part of the overall experience at Tranekaer Center – a place where nourishment, tranquillity, and community converge.
Enjoy your meal
Mini Café
Our cosy mini café offers a delightful selection of snacks and treats.
Here you'll find chocolate, liquorice, gummy sweets, crisps, and much more – perfect for satisfying your hunger or treating yourself. At larger events like the festivals, we also serve homemade cake, which is always a guest favourite.
We prioritise organic products wherever possible, focusing on quality that you can truly taste.
The café also offers cold drinks – both still and sparkling – as well as hot beverages like coffee, tea, and chai latte.
The café is open 24/7 with self-service, so you can enjoy a snack whenever it suits you.
You can pay easily via MobilePay or Vipps (which works with MobilePay), or you can sign up and pay on the last day – by card, cash, or MobilePay/Vipps.
Drop in, take a break, and let yourself be pampered.
(The café is only for participants at our events)
About Organic
Organic is something that is close to our hearts. For many years, our family ran an organic farm on Langeland, and that experience lives on as a natural part of our approach to food and ingredients at Tranekaer Center.
For us, it's about making conscious choices – with respect for nature and the people who grow and produce the food. It's a way for us to make conscious choices in everyday life.
We choose organic ingredients wherever possible and collaborate with local producers when it's feasible and makes sense in terms of season, quality, and availability. We also like to use ingredients from our own kitchen garden when the season allows.
Our aim is to create food that tastes good and feels good – both in the body and in the way it's produced.
External Chefs
Inspiration and Alternatives
For some events, it can be meaningful to invite an external chef.
If you wish to arrange the catering yourself, or are looking for an alternative solution to the Center's own kitchen facilities, collaborating with an external chef can be a good option.
Perhaps you already know one. Otherwise, here are some names for inspiration, whom we have either met or had recommended over the years, and with whom previous organisers have had good experiences:
Casper Andersen – Aarup Kro
Chef and owner of Aarup Kro, where he works with classic craftsmanship and a strong foundation in Danish cuisine. He contributes a safe and delicious setting for meals, where quality and hospitality go hand in hand.

All contact, planning, and agreements take place directly between you and your chosen chef, who operates independently.

Allergies and Special Dietary Needs
When Tranekaer Center’s own chefs prepare the meals, gluten-free and/or dairy-free meals can be ordered for an additional fee. The fee covers the kitchen’s additional planning, purchasing, and preparation.
Please order gluten-free or dairy-free meals at least 14 days before your arrival or the start of the event, and specify your dietary requirements at checkout.
The food is prepared in the same kitchen as other foods. Complete separation cannot therefore be guaranteed, and traces of gluten and milk may be present.
If you have any other allergies, intolerances, or special dietary needs, you’re welcome to bring your own food and prepare it in our guest kitchen. There’s also a shared refrigerator there.
For events at the center where the organizer brings their own kitchen staff, the options may vary. Contact the organizer to find out which dietary needs can be accommodated.
