The Essence of City Hall

City Hall is a shared space for work, reflection, and the joy of creation.

We take care of our home and each other through responsibility, thoughtfulness, and simplicity in our daily lives.

Everyone takes responsibility for their own space and contributes to the common areas.

Freedom and community go hand in hand—what you bring to the table helps shape this place.

Small actions make a big difference and keep the house alive over time.

Responsibility for One's Own Space

Each user is responsible for the space in which they work.

The room can be arranged as you like within the agreed-upon guidelines, as long as you do so with consideration for the house and the people who share it.

Each individual is responsible for cleaning and maintaining their own room.

When leaving a room, leave it tidy and ready for the next person to use.

Common Areas

Common areas are kept clean and inviting.

Everyone should clean up after themselves immediately after using the kitchen, hallways, common areas, and other shared facilities.

Common areas are maintained collectively through a system in which responsibility rotates.

Shared responsibility helps create a place where it's nice to be.

Respect for the House

City Hall is a place that is constantly evolving, driven forward by our collective efforts.

The house must be used with respect for the building, its materials, and its furnishings.

Resources such as electricity and water are used wisely to keep shared expenses in balance.

The installation of solutions that consume a significant amount of electricity, such as electric radiators and similar devices, must be agreed upon in advance so that common expenses remain reasonable for everyone.

If you notice any damage, defects, or anything that requires maintenance, please notify the person in charge so that it can be addressed.

Interaction and Consideration

City Hall accommodates a variety of work styles and rhythms.

We show consideration for each other’s processes, need for quiet, and ways of working.

Music and sound are used with consideration for others in the house and the surrounding area.

Dialogue is actively used if any issues arise.

Diversity in pace, expression, and work style is one of our strengths.

Alcohol and Narcotic Substances

City Hall is a place of clarity, presence, and creative processes.

The use of alcohol and intoxicating substances is not permitted and is therefore not allowed on the premises.

For group events, different policies regarding alcohol may be agreed upon for the entire facility in special cases.

Smoking

Smoking must take place outdoors and with due regard for the surroundings.

Guests

It is possible to have guests and customers in the house.

Each person is responsible for their guests and for ensuring that they contribute to a pleasant atmosphere and take good care of the venue.

Personal Belongings

Personal belongings are stored at your own risk.

Shared Materials and Equipment

Shared materials and equipment should be used with care and left ready for the next person.

Safety

When using tools and facilities, please do so with care and responsibility—including consideration for others in the building.

Candles and other open flames are not allowed in the house. LED lights are used for safety reasons.

The use of open-flame tools must be agreed upon in advance and handled with care.

Access and Closure

Each person is responsible for locking and securing the house when leaving.

Doors, windows, and lighting are inspected to ensure that the house is left secure and in good condition.

Community

City Hall works best when everyone contributes.

Small everyday actions help keep the house lively, well-run, and welcoming to everyone.

Many people also choose to give a little back to the house along the way—small contributions that make the place better for everyone.

Twice a year, community-wide days focused on maintenance and cleanup may be organized if someone in the community wishes to take the initiative to do so.

Trends Over Time

The guidelines can be adjusted on an ongoing basis as the organization evolves and new needs arise.

City Hall takes shape through use, dialogue, and what each of us brings to it.

Connection to Events

When participating in courses, retreats, and other events at the Tranekaer Center, the center’s terms and conditions for participants also apply.

These guidelines supplement those guidelines and describe the day-to-day use of City Hall as a shared workspace and gathering place.
