Jewelry-Making Class at Guldsmeden

Learn to make jewelry—for beginners and those with a little experience.
A sensory introduction to the goldsmith’s craft—in a calm, mindful setting with small groups.

Welcome to a creative space

Do you dream of learning the art of goldsmithing and creating your own jewelry with your own hands?
Now you can take part in our jewelry-making classes at Guldtranen, located next to the old town hall in Tranekær.

We work in a small group with a maximum of 3 participants, so there is plenty of time for each individual.
The course will be held even if there is only one participant.

Teaching with Care and Expertise

The course is led by goldsmith Mille Heindorf, who, with care and great expertise, will guide you into the world of goldsmithing. Classes are held in small, intimate groups with a maximum of five participants, ensuring plenty of time for personal attention, guidance, and immersion in the process.

You’ll learn basic jewelry-making techniques while also having the opportunity to explore your own artistic style. During the course, you’ll create a unique piece of jewelry that reflects your personal story and energy. The process can be both meditative and inspiring—like a special break from everyday life, where your creativity is allowed to flourish.

The Workshop—a place filled with tranquility and inspiration

The newly renovated workshop at City Hall is filled with light, warmth, and inspiration. Here, your hands are free to create while your mind finds peace.

Each participant has their own dedicated workstation, and the workshop is fully equipped with all the necessary jewelry-making tools—from saws, files, and soldering equipment to polishing machines and specialty tools. The space is designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind, so you can work with focus in a calm and beautiful setting.

Take Creation Home

During the course, you’ll also receive personalized guidance on what you need to get off to a good start with your own small jewelry-making workshop at home—whether you dream of continuing as a hobby or taking the first steps toward a more creative daily life.

You don't need any prior experience—just a desire to learn and create. All materials and tools are provided during the course.

Nature right outside your door

The course’s location in the heart of Tranekær makes it easy to find peace and new inspiration in nature. During breaks, there are plenty of opportunities for walks in nature. Here, you can let your thoughts wander, feel the rhythm of the landscape, and recharge your energy for creative work at the workshop table.

Special Considerations

If you have any special physical needs, you are still very welcome.

Just let us know—the instructor will help tailor the activities so that you have a rewarding and enriching experience no matter what. The most important thing is that you listen to your body and take good care of yourself.

The Instructor

Mille Heindorf

Mille Heindorf is both a trained goldsmith and a social educator—a combination that brings a special sense of security and depth to her teaching. She has been working with jewelry art since 2006 and has many years of experience in teaching this aesthetic craft in an engaging and down-to-earth way.

In her day-to-day work, Mille plays a central role on the team behind the Tranekaer Center, where she facilitates creative processes and meaningful interactions between people with passion and calm. Her approach is both professionally grounded and warmly human—and she is passionate about helping others unleash their creative joy.

Get inspired

Here you can see examples of jewelry created by past participants—such as handmade rings with a personal touch, pendants inspired by nature, or small symbols forged in silver. Each piece tells its own story—shaped by hands, heart, and curiosity. You’ll discover how materials, symbols, and personal choices are transformed into small works of art with soul and character.

Several participants describe the course as a creative oasis and an unforgettable experience that brought them a sense of calm, pride, and a renewed joy in creating.

Catering

Please bring your own lunch. There is a refrigerator in the workshop.

The workshop also has a small café where you can buy snacks and drinks.

PROGRAM
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Jewelry-making workshop
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Lunch break
2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Jewelry-making workshop
4:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Settlement of Accounts and Closing

You’ll also have the opportunity to work in the goldsmith’s workshop during breaks, if you’d like.
And, of course, you can always take a break from the workshop whenever you need to.

(If you need to arrive a little later or leave a little earlier—for example, due to public transportation schedules—just let the instructor know directly in advance.)

Materials
We have silver, bronze, copper, and brass in stock for you to work with. Material costs are calculated on a case-by-case basis, depending on your design and choice of materials. Prices start at around 30 kroner for bronze and 300 kroner for silver to create a beautiful piece of jewelry.

You’re also welcome to bring your own materials, such as stones or old gold/silver, to the class. We’ll be working with simple melting and casting techniques, where the metal can be transformed into, for example, spheres or beautiful, organic shapes by pouring the molten metal into water. This gives you the chance to create a unique piece of jewelry with a personal story and new energy.

Experience
You don’t need any experience in goldsmithing to take this course. The course is open to anyone who is interested.

As a general guideline, based on your experience with goldsmithing, we recommend creating the following types of jewelry to ensure you achieve your goals:

  • If you're a beginner: Earrings or studs.

  • Do you have a little experience? Pendants, earrings, a narrow ring.

  • Do you have more experience with: Pendants, Dangle Earrings, Stud Earrings, Narrow/Wide Rings, or a brooch?

Setting You can easily create simple settings using raw stones and natural materials—either by wrapping threads around them to hold the materials in place or by gluing them together. The instructors will guide you through the process depending on your design.

Setting Faceted Gemstones:
- If you have experience setting faceted gemstones and don’t need instruction, you’ll be able to work on setting them during the course as well. Tools are provided.
- If you do not have experience with this type of setting, you will need to take a separate setting course to learn the basic techniques for this part of the process.
